Sharing Experiences

I came to London on September 2007 from Nepal for higher educational purposes. That was the first time I ever travelled so far on my own so I was nervous as well as excited to start my new journey. Once i reached the here began to realize the best things about UK are their system, rules  and regulations that treat every human being equally. People of this country are very civilised and well mannered. The best things I have learned from this country is to respect each other's no matter which colour they are or what job they do.
I have been living in London since I came to this country and I must say it is one of the best cities to live. It is very safe and comfortable place to live.
In this 8 years journey in UK I have achieved my master degree and great work experience and better life. The friends like family I have made throughout my stay in this country is the best assets of my life. This country is continuously helping me to have an independent and free life and helped me to be a better person.
Despite of achieving lots of things in this country the most important thing I have lost is my family life. It was not easy for me stay without my family, friends and my society at the beginning. I still miss my family and my place. Social life is not that good here as everyone is busy with their work and life. The stressful life because of work and  frequently changing rules and regulations for immigrants is another negative part of living in this country. Now I am looking forward my life using the knowledge gained here nay where in the world. Hope I will catch up with the life with the blessing of knowledge.

Sharing Experiences

I’m a law student here in London South Bank University. [LLB (Hons), Law, Year 2] It’s been only 3 weeks since I arrived in the UK. Although my biggest complains about the city is more or less of a big list, starting from the expensive train fare, to the horrific climate, but at the end of the day, the education quality is far better than Bangladesh. So can’t really complain. We have regular workshops, lectures, course works, group projects and seminars. And each has its own importance.

In my 3 weeks’ time in London, I have met people from all classes, and races. People from different backgrounds and countries.  And that’s what I love about London the most. The diversity. People here are both friendly and lovely. One thing I have adopted since coming here is a routine. Waking up in the morning, make breakfast and be on classes on time. This is something which I didn’t have at all when I was living with my parents back in Bangladesh. Being independent is both fun and important.

London is one of the most beautiful cities in the world. But it also teaches you about respectand independency too. In the underground trains, the seats are very limited. People from all classes share seats together. Doesn’t matter if one is a mayor and one is plumber. They all seat together without any hesitation. Which is beautiful of course, coming from a third world country where there is still caste discrimination.

My future plan is to complete my studies fully and work on my field. I can do Bar-At-Law, or LLM. But I want to have a degree and help people in their needs. People often ask me whether I will go back to my country or stay after my studies. I don’t have a definitive answer for that. Because one thing I learned from London is, it doesn’t really matter where you are, or who you are as long as you’re helping people. As long as you’re contributing to the society. That is my future goal. Helping people.
